Description
A beautifully crafted antique coin silver sauce ladle marked on the backside 'P. Thoresen 13 1/4'. The handle features a distinctive twisted/rope stem leading to a flat, elaborately engraved finial with foliate and scrollwork motifs in a style consistent with late 18th- to early 19th-century American or Scandinavian silversmithing. The round bowl is hammered in appearance with a small raised shoulder where it meets the twisted stem. The overall design is lightweight and elegant. Scattered surface scratches and signs of age throughout, consistent with its antiquity — overall good condition for a piece of this age. Measures approximately 6.45 inches long by 1.75 inches wide. Weighs 16 g.
